RISO Studio Arts: Sun, January 18
Join us on Sunday, January 18, for a Book Arts Guild talk with Jun Ha and Dave Bow, who will discuss how the Risograph’s growing popularity is reflected in independent publishing, art book/zine production, and the rise of art book and print fairs around the world.
Jun & Dave will trace the Risograph's evolution from office duplicator to widely respected medium in the contemporary art/design world, outline the Risograph process, showcase printed works, and discuss how the medium informs their artistic practices, teaching, and community-based projects. Following the talk, we’ll all head to the Museum's Book Arts Lab for a practical demonstration of our RISO SF5130 duplicator, allowing participants to experience the Risograph printing process and explore its creative possibilities.
Co-founders of RISO Studio Arts, a community-centered printmaking studio in Los Angeles and Portland, and authorized representatives of RISO Kagaku Corp., Jun & Dave will also describe their work connecting artists, small presses, nonprofit organizations, and educational institutions with risograph technology — and how access to these tools supports experimental and collaborative publishing.
This event will also serve as the kick-off to a new series of Risograph workshops, offered in partnership with RISO Studio Arts and the International Print Museum. Tickets are now on sale for Jun & Dave's first "Intro to Risograph Printing" workshop at the Book Arts Institute on February 28, 2026.
Details: This Book Arts Guild event will take place at the International Printing Museum on Sunday, January 18, from 2pm to 5pm. Light refreshments will be provided. Printed works and publications will be available for viewing and purchase. Attendance is limited. Admission is $5/person.
