BOOK ARTS DAY FOR GIRLS
March 14, May 9, July 18, & Nov 14, 2026
9AM - 3PM
A full-day event giving all girls, not just Girl Scouts, the opportunity to learn about the art of book making through 8 stations. Learn about making paper, different ways of binding books or illustrating covers/pages, and much more. Advance registration is required – please complete one form per scout.
The Book Arts Day for Girls is designed for girls aged 10-18 who want to explore the book arts through hands-on experience. If you are a Girl Scout, the BOOK ARTS DAY will help fulfill the requirements for the Girl Scouts Cadette Book Artist Badge. However, the Book Arts Day is open for ALL girls, whether a Girl Scout, an American Heritage Girl, the sister of a Girl Scout, or a girl interested in the book arts!
A truly unique and not-to-miss event for girls in Southern California! The Book Arts Day runs from 9 am to 3 pm, with teams of girls rotating among various activity stations focusing on key aspects of the book arts. Over the course of the day, each participant will have the opportunity to make their own sheets of paper, bind several soft-cover books, print their own book covers and t-shirts, and much more. The day is filled with hands-on activities and detailed presentations given by industry experts and educators.
Cost: The fee for the Girls Book Arts Day is $55 per participant and includes most activities, except for the t-shirt for screen printing. Participants should bring their own plain, light-colored cotton t-shirt for screen printing. Please plan to bring a sack lunch.
Registration: A parent can register their daughter(s), or a troop leader can register multiple scouts from the same unit. Troop leaders paying for 5+ scouts can contact the Museum directly to avoid the Eventbrite fee.
Cancellation/Reschedule: Refunds must be requested in writing at least 14 days before the event. Date change requests must be made in writing at least 7 days in advance of the event; only one date change request per ticket, please. Date change requests made less than 7 days in advance of the event (as well as second date-change requests) will incur a $20 service fee. Please direct all inquiries to ipm@printmuseum.org or call 310-515-7166.
SPACE IS LIMITED. Advance registration is required; not open to the general public. Our Girls Book Arts Days often fill up months in advance. Please don't wait to register!
HOW THE DAY WORKS
The girls will rotate among stations in small teams; each station lasts 30-45 minutes. There will be a half-hour lunch break; bring a sack lunch. Parents or siblings who would like to participate in the activities themselves must register for the event.
We always need about a dozen parents to volunteer during the event, serving either as either activity station assistants or team leaders. If not registered or volunteering, parents are welcome to drop the girls off or follow along; however, we cannot accommodate unregistered siblings.
