A truly unique and not-to-miss event for girls in Southern California! The Book Arts Patch Day goes from 9 am to 3 pm, as teams of girls rotate among various activity stations that cover key aspects of the book arts, including letterpress printing, paper making, bookbinding, paper marbling, screen printing, and illustration design. Over the course of the day, each participant will have the opportunity to make their own sheets of paper, bind several soft-cover books , print their own book covers and t-shirts, and much more. The day is filled with hands-on activities and detailed presentations given by industry experts and educators.

The Printing Museum offers four Books Arts Patch Days for Girls each year. The fee for the Book Arts Patch Day is $50 per participant, which covers most activities; participants must provide their own t-shirt and lunch. Parents can experience the day too, either as a registered participant themselves (if they purchase their own ticket) or as an event volunteer. For questions, please contact the International Printing Museum.

Cancellation Policy: Refunds must be requested in writing at least 14 days in advance of the event. Date change requests must be made in writing at least 7 days in advance of the event; only one date change request per ticket, please. Date change requests made less than 7 days in advance of the event will incur a $20 service fee. Please direct all inquiries to ipm@printmuseum.org or call 310-515-7166.

HOW THE DAY WORKS

The girls will rotate among stations in small teams; each station lasts 30-45 minutes. There will be a half-hour lunch break; bring a sack lunch. Parents are welcome to drop the girls off or follow along. We will need about a dozen parents to volunteer during the event, serving either as a team leader (who guides the girls from station to station) or as an activity station assistant.

Parents are welcome to remain at the museum during the event; however, parents or siblings who would like to participate in the activities themselves must register for the event and pay the fee in advance.
