Paper Making with Natural Fibers

  • International Printing Museum 315 West Torrance Boulevard Carson, CA, 90745 $150 (map)

Spend a day exploring the art of handmade paper with acclaimed paper makers Judi and Heather! From preparing fibers to pulling sheets to learning how to dry your paper, you’ll get hands-on experience with this fascinating and creative process.

Following an introduction to the tools and techniques of paper making, participants learn how to create beautiful sheets of paper by hand. While most of the day will be devoted to hands-on practice to develop your sheet-forming skills, Judi and Heather will also share ideas for adding personalized inclusions and experimenting with pulp painting.

By the end of the day, you’ll have a deeper understanding of the technical skills and creative possibilities of papermaking, along with a personal collection of beautiful, one-of-a-kind papers to use in your own projects.

No experience necessary! Beginners are welcome, and experienced papermakers will enjoy the opportunity to experiment, explore new ideas, and work with the materials. All materials are provided. Participants must be 18 or older.

Note: Once your paper has dried (approximately one week), it will be ready for pickup at the Museum. Need it shipped? We can mail your finished papers for an additional $15.
