Book Making: Case Bindings

  • International Printing Museum 315 West Torrance Boulevard Carson $125 (map)

In this workshop, participants will learn how to make a beautiful hardbound blank book using contemporary applications of techniques that date back hundreds of years. We will learn how to sew a text block using the French link stitch and create and attach a hardcover case with a reinforced spine. Additionally, we will make our own personalized bookcloth from a selection of fabric samples. Participants may also bring a small piece of their own cotton or linen fabric to turn into a useful piece of paper-backed book cloth. No experience in bookbinding necessary.
