Discover the creative possibilities of paper with Selena Matranga
In this hands-on workshop focused on folding structures for artists’ books, you’ll learn how to harness the inherent strength and flexibility of paper into dynamic, sculptural book forms.
Starting with just a single sheet, we’ll explore inventive designs like the fishbone fold (attributed to Hedi Kyle), which uses slits and scoring to create a striking, expandable structure, and the flutter book, built from individual folios glued at the fore edge and opens outward. Along the way, you’ll also make 8-fold and 16-fold zines and have the option to add clever, non-adhesive covers.
Whether you’re new to bookmaking or looking to expand your practice, this workshop offers playful techniques and eye-catching results you can adapt to your own creative projects.
