In this hands-on workshop, participants will move through the full letterpress process—from selecting a phrase and choosing one or two metal typefaces, to setting the message in a composing stick, selecting ink, and printing on card stock using a traditional work-and-turn production method on a Vandercook cylinder press.
There is something especially satisfying about seeing your words set in type, rolling ink onto the press, and pulling your own printed cards by hand. Along the way, students will gain experience with traditional letterpress tools and techniques while developing a deeper understanding of the craft and beauty of letterpress printing.
Expect ink on your hands, good conversation, and turning language into something tactile and lasting. All skill levels welcome. All materials provided. Age 18+
