Book Arts: Advanced Paper Marbling

  • International Printing Museum 315 West Torrance Boulevard Carson, CA, 90745 $150 (map)

This advanced workshop is intended to help build confidence in students who already understand the fundamentals of Turkish Marbling.

We will explore more nuanced pattern and surface control techniques, with an emphasis on sequencing, timing and understanding the interactions of the paint on the bath. We will also explore the use of dispersants. Throughout the class, students will troubleshoot common issues that arise as designs become more layered and detailed.

By the end of the workshop, participants will feel confident at the tank and be well prepared to continue the exploration on the art of painting on water. And it must be said that each student will bring home many beautiful papers.

NOTE: Successful completion of Erin’s beginning marbling class or the equivalent experience is required to sign up for the class. If you have questions, please reach out to ipm@printmuseum.org.
