LETTERPRESS SURPLUS SALE & WAYZGOOSE
Saturday, August 16, 2025 from 9 am to 4 pm

Step back in time and celebrate the art of printing at one of the year’s most anticipated events! For this annual event, the Museum opens an hour earlier than usual!

A Wayzgoose is a centuries-old tradition dating back to the 1500s—an annual gathering of printers to mark the end of summer and the beginning of the printing season. We bring this historic festivity to life with a day full of hands-on activities, live demonstrations, and rare finds for print enthusiasts of all levels.

Letterpress Surplus Sale! From seasoned printers to curious beginners, the Surplus Sale is a treasure trove of vintage printing equipment and supplies. Whether you’re looking to expand your printshop or start one from scratch, you’ll find something unique at the Surplus Sale.

Live Printing Demonstrations & Hands-on Activities! Experience the magic of traditional printing techniques with ongoing mini-tours and interactive stations throughout the day.

Special Guest Appearance: John Barrett! A nationally respected figure in the letterpress community, Barrett is the owner of Massachusetts-based Letterpress Things. For this rare West Coast appearance, Barrett will bring a curated selection of printing supplies, wood and metal type, and printer’s cuts for sale. Don’t miss this exclusive opportunity to meet one of the industry’s most knowledgeable suppliers.

Event tickets are $12, which can be purchased online at or at the door. Those who purchase their tickets in advance will receive a voucher for $5 off for their Surplus Sale purchase. Please note: The Museum welcomes service animals, but pets are not permitted on site during this event.
