Inside the Covers: An Evening with Book Artists Peter & Donna Thomas

Wednesday, April 24th at 7:30 pm

Since 1976 Peter and Donna Thomas from Santa Cruz have worked collaboratively and individually, making paper, letterpress printing and book binding to create books. Under the previous imprint of The Good Book Press, and the current imprint, Peter and Donna Thomas: Santa Cruz, their books have been shown in individual and group exhibitions in the USA and abroad and have been purchased for collections around the world.

Throughout their career they have been active in the leadership of both national and international book arts and papermaking organizations. They have lectured and taught workshops to book arts students internationally and have published articles on papermaking and other aspects of the book arts. During the 1990’s they began to travel and giving workshops and lectures.

Traveling across the country in their Gypsy Wagon, Peter and Donna are making a rare visit to Southern California. Hosted by APHA Southern California Chapter and the International Printing Museum, this special evening will be a chance to explore their artists books, learn about technique, make paper with Peter, hear about their years as letterpress printers and book artists, enjoy some original Book Arts Ukelele Music from Peter at the back of the Gypsy Wagon and enjoy an evening of conversation and refreshment among kindred souls.

Reservations are not required but a $5 donation is suggested to help cover some of the costs for the evening and fill up Peter’s gas tank. Above all, just come and enjoy a very special visit and experience with two of the leading book artists in the country!
