We especially welcome educators and students to the Los Angeles Printers Fair. Students of typography, graphic design, printmaking, book arts and many other subjects will be richly rewarded by a visit. In fact, we moved the date to September 25, 2010 to accommodate classes.

As a college teacher myself, I plan on incorporating the Fair into my fall programming. There are many creative ways to use the experience at the Fair for educational purposes. You can require students to submit a report and photos about typecasting, the Gutenberg press or Linotype, contemporary forms of letterpress and printmaking, and much more. For help or details about what your students might experience at the Fair, contact me, Rachelle W. Chuang at fair@printmuseum.org. You can also find out about the Museum’s History in Motion trailer and educational programs that can be tailored to specific classes. For 20 years the Museum has specialized in innovative presentations about the history of printing and is experienced working with classes, home-schooling groups and community organizations.

Also, there will be plenty of opportunities for volunteers. A Fair Volunteer Meeting will be held Saturday, August 7th from 10-11:30am in the Museum’s Heritage Theater (please RSVP to fair@printmuseum.org).  Volunteers/Students can get hands-on experience in graphic design, letterpress printing, exhibition installation, assisting vendors, and much more. If anyone needs a fun internship this summer, preparing for the Fair might be for you.
